It is with great sadness that I have read on their facebook page that Quinns pub is to close.

I would imagine there are very few GAA supporters that have not popped in for a pre match pint or in the vain hope of mooching a ticket.

    Shamelessly robbed from facebook:

To all our customers - Just a very big thanks for
all your custom, craic and banter over the last 25 years, we had a savage time
there. We won the battle but lost the war ! But with heads held high we say
goodbye. - Quinns may reopen at some stage by the banks, so think long and hard
where you spend your hard earned money. The banks and goverment made a mess of
this country the first time round and are being allowed to do it again!! - Slan
    agus adh mor oraibh!

The GAA will probably buy it and open it on match/concert days like they do with Gills.

Great sadness? Are you the landlord or something? Great sadness? You must have a great life if this is all you have to have "great sadness" over.

I would imagine he is sad because this is the spot where he sourced tickets on match day. Why are you being so obtuse or is this typical internet fare ?

The bank has a bit to do with this one, the debt is only supposedly 250k, which should be workable. They refused to drop the rent from 30k per month to 15k (which the management claim is the going rate). That said, there's over 8 months arrears there.

I wonder if they'll try hire a manager to run it (instead of trying to lease or sell it).

He wasn't paying his rent(think he was paying half) not sure what he expected.Feel sorry for the staff who have lost their jobs.Cant say I ever liked this place too much, bit of a cattle mart and crap drink.Much better places to get tickets as well if you were stuck.

It used to be my local back in the day, Mark the manager and Dermot one of the barmen would be friends of mine.

I always loved catching up whenever Mayo were playing in Croker.

So to answer your point, such as it was, yes I am feeling great sadness for my friends who have lost their jobs just over a month before Christmas.

As awful as it is to have a Croke Park tradition like Quinn's gone by the wayside and I feel very sorry for all effected, I don't think the GAA Forum is the place to discuss the economic reasoning behind it's failures or speculation into any of the stories.
