Getting back into it after the marathon

    How do you do yours?

I took 3 days off and did 25 mins on the Friday evening. No running then until the Monday and did 4 days that week with a 5 mile 'race' in 31 mins.

Been feeling awful during the day at work the last 2 weeks, yet fine when running, does this sound typical of a first marathon comedown? Trying to eat more and drink water more, alas the feeling won't go away, so I was wondering what your tips are?

Given your background and accomplishments to date, 5 miles in 31 mins is a sure sign that, unless you "jogged" it, you may have a virus or are dying.

Check with a doctor - it could be a combination of the two.

You must of run the marathon too fast. Slow down next time.

Why the cynicism? I ran the same time as you did in your first marathon.

Rom: Why did you delete your comment regarding DC? At least I ran the full 26.2.

Did you ever join Donore in the end?

newbyrunner: post your full time so like was asked of you or your bib number like you stated you will. Until then you are a mere troll. btw to keep it going this long it's not a doctor you need.
PS: We have no proof that you ran the 26.2 as you have not provided it so you are the same as him until you prove otherwise.

If you only took three days off I'm not surprised you feel rubbish! No idea what your time was but surely you should have taken longer than that off? I took 7 days off myself but I didn't exactly kill myself on marathon day as I wanted to enjoy my first. Have you not looked at any recovery plans?

Give the lad a break. The forum needs a few trolls to keep it interesting. Truth be told it has got stale around here the last few months. I applaud his efforts.

He's not much of a troll if he doesn't come back to his threads.

    Boring troll is boring.

Maybe you two lads can get together and start a boyband or something. You already have the perfect name: The Trolls

Why am I not surprised? First thread about getting back into running after the marathon and descends into chaos

And if all this is about not posting my time then sheesh, you guys need to go out for a run or something!

Highest mileage so far this week since the marathon, boy does it feel good! 7 min miling for recovery is a lot harder than before the marathon though.

That's a bit slow for your MP. Should it not be closer 6 min/m recovery?

Nope, that's about my 10k race pace even though I've never done one, might be an idea there?
