If you're struggling to decide just buy the best example of either that suits you're budget. No interest in an old Prelude? Insurance on a 2.0 one might not be too much more than the 1.6 cars you mention. A friend bought a 95 or 96 Civic coupe from his sister a few months back, only 70/80k miles on it, I took it for a small spin recently, feels like new, great cars in fairness.

Could you not stretch to a Type R DC2? I almost bought the the 1.6 Integra and in hindsight having now owned a Type R Im glad I didnt as the 1.6 is very much a poor compromise.

to be honest with everyone i hav only 1yr no claim bonus so i can't get insured on bmw e46 also on integra 1.8 i could do a swap but thats gonna be later on. And coupe i want from 97-00 :)

I had a Type R a good few years ago, great fun @ 8800rpm proper little noise maker :pac:..I wouldn't go near the 1.6 Integra OP..Save a few quid more and get the R..

If it was me I would get something for a couple of years to keep me going while I built up a decent NCB, then go for a Type R (pretty much what I did do; got a late 90s Accord 1.8 which I loved to bits until I could insure the Type R Integra).

What about an SiR Integra? More respectible than the 1.6 version (its still a 1.8) but doesnt have the Type R label that insurance companies hate so much.

Other than that if you want to stick with Honda and dont want a hatchback then youre looking at the likes of a CRX or an S2000 (or an NSX, but something tells me that is not going to happen!!!).

I know that you have said that you dont like Accords but have you looked at the SiR-T/Euro R Accord? Might be a bit outside of your insurance range but a lovely car to drive, and being an Accord might just set off fewer alarm bells with insurers than the Integra (worth a try at least).

1.6 plain jane edition is ideal as its the teg for anyone an everyone..

small yoke, tiny bit of pok and flawless ( mostly ) Reliability.

Since its a honda should that engine get boring or blow you have many options... Go for it, get a low mile shell & enjoy.

I just dont see the point in the 1.6; its an Integra in name only. Its not particularly quick and it doesnt feel anything like driving a Type R. Each to their own I guess but if it were me Id want something a bit more exciting while I saved up for the Type R. If you want an Integra then the 1.6 is not going to do much for you.
