I have an Android phone and have bought plenty of games over the last couple of years. I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy 7inch Tab for my kid for Christmas. Can I tie this Tablet to my gmail account and get my paid games. I presume some/all games have specific tab versus phone versions. Am I wasting my time or does it make sense to do this.

You should be fine, i've had no issues over the years installing across phones/tablets

I have changed android phone and reinstalled my paid apps fine on the new device but am not sure of the separation of apps in terms of versions between phone and tablet.

Depends on how the developers have set it up. For instance, I worked on a game for android phones, but we deliberately didn't make it available to tablets because we would have had to redo all the graphics (it was photo-based, and they didn't up-scale in an acceptable way).

Some developers do separate "HD" builds which look better.

Depends on the phone too, my phone has almost the same resolution as my tablet
