    Hi Lads,

Having an argument in work here, based on the assumptions of Aviva.

Would you you have to declare a accident 4 years ago when they only ask for the last three years.

It never seems clear on the forms, can be taken differently be different people.

    You (and your named drivers)

    • Have never been disqualified from driving
    • Have never had any endorsement on your licence
    • Have had no claims made against you in the last three years, nor been involved in any accident or loss
    • Have not been convicted of any offences of any nature, or have any now pending
    • Have no more than four penalty points on your current licence
    • Have no disability or medical condition that impairs your ability to drive
    • Have not been refused insurance (or renewal of a policy) by any insurer
    • Have had no special terms and conditions imposed on you by any insurer
    • Permanently reside in the Republic of Ireland

If i had a accident 4 years ago do i have to declare it.

    Regards,

That seems clear enough to me?

I dont know what is unclear about that. If you have had an accident/claim in the last three years then you must declare it. If you havent then you dont declare anything. Where is the confusion?

Its not so much that its unclear when you look at it,more so that one of the lads wants to make sure that he is 100% insured.

    Thanks for the input.

Just wanted to confirm this for him,get other peoples view on it.

To me, that says that you haven't had a claim in the last 3 years, and have NEVER been in an accident.

To be honest, the only way to be sure is to ring and confirm, although I get the impression it's a little late for that.

No, it asks if you have had a claim, accident or loss within the last three years.

    Then why isn't phrased:
"Have had no claims made against you, been involved in any accident or loss in the last three years"

The placement of the second part of the sentence is a little too definite for my liking.

No idea. To me it asks; have you had any claims in the last three years (important bit) or any loss or accident that may lead to a future claim.

It's the claims they're interested in, not any historical loss or accident.

It really is taking up different by different people.

Will they load on him for claims in last three years only but those three years (if he has any), but want to know of any other prior just for their records perhaps??

    Regards,

Doesn't really mater when the crash was, when was the case settled is more important. If you crashed 4 years ago and there's still a Personal injury case pending you still have a claim against you.

I agree with OSI. They are asking have you had any claims in the last 3 years or any crashes. Not have you claimed or crashed in the last 3 years.

I love the online assumptions from Insurance companies. My favourite is that the car isn't an import!! We haven't made any cars here in ages so all cars are imports. When I pointed this out I was informed is was for non EU imports, which would be easier and clearer.
