I highly recommend the novel The Rise of the Governor, only a tenner in Easons, O' Mahonys, etc. It gives an excellent background on the character that becomes The Governor. Great read whether you like the show and/or the comic.

    Huge ending spoilers!!!
I didn't cop that Brian might become the Governor until the 2nd last chapter,
brilliant twist. Made me want to go back and read his arc in the comics again.

Everytime I see his character on the TV Show, I think of all the stuff he's done. I'm really mad to see if the show will bring up any of the novels backstory but I doubt it.

I just started reading Book 2 'Road to Woodbury' but I don't think it will top Book 1.

Great read. Although I have to say I copped the twist from very very early on. The whole way the characters were introduced in the first chapter kinda set it up.

    Still highly recommended though.
Also I dont think we'll see much reference to it in the show. I think the Philip Blake in the TV show is actually Philip Blake and not Brian. It would move the focus too much from the main story to tell his back-story in the kinda detail it deserves.
