Nikon D90 or D3100

Had my heart set on the d3100 , the entry level DSLR from Nikon.

But after research I see lots of people suggest the d90 instead .

Even though the newer d3100 has a better sensor.

I only really intend to buy no more than 3 lenses for a camera as any more would be unpractical to carry around.

I will also have to save more money for a second hand d90.

Is the focus motor that important?

focus motor is important to some.. i have lots of people who won't buy lenses on my ads because their body has no built in AF motor (D3000,D3100,D5100 etc)
i'm selling my D80 if you are interested. it has built in AF motor. it was the camera that was out before the D90.
