    Just saw it on twitter. It was for a $10k bet on a winning favourite. He was on the second favourite but wasn't found guilty of improper riding. He placed the bet via a third party.
    Always liked him after the Media Puzzle victory a few days after his brothers death.
    Foolish mistake as it will cost him now.

    Firstly let me say I love Olly.

    I think hes a great ambassador and a great jockey. His story is inspirational.

    BUT....

    He fcuked up BIG TIME here. 8 months is a pathetic sentence. He still got to ride in the spring carnival gone although authorities knew he'd placed the bet. He won 100k in riding fees and winnings in the carnival. He will be eligible for next carnival.

    In HK a jockey is sentenced to jail time if tipping a horse to lose or win to any punter never mind betting themselves.

    The authorities have bottled this one. Should have given him 2 years.

    Shocking sentence. His license should be taken from him for two years like dave said.
