I've been to Thailand twice this year and in 2011 also. Flew with Etihad from Heathrow in 2011 and Emirates from Dublin this year. Flights cost around €650 both times but will cost alot more now. If you are flexible you can still get flights for around the €650 mark check Skyscanner.net. Etihad are better than Emirates but Emirates have the vastly superior A380 and a 30KG baggage allowance.

A direct flight from Heathrow will cost about €1k

we flew with Emirates. The seats were spacious enough, the bathrooms really clean and roomy. We liked the food well enough and the staff was helpful and friendly. The in-flight entertainment system is also pretty good. Would defo recommend them.

I went with Air France from Dublin earlier on this year. It's not direct from Dublin, there's a stopover in Paris. At the time it was a little bit pricier than Ryanair (including baggage) + whoever else I quoted but I prefer just throwing my bags on in Dublin and forgetting about them. I used a travel agent. I can't remember why but the price was cheaper than I was getting on the internet.

The seats were roomy enough and there are loads of movies to choose from on the flights between Paris - Bangkok. No movies on the flights between Dublin & Paris though but that was a short enough flight.

Emirates are great. Flew with them 2 years ago and couldnt fault them.
Flew with Malaysian Airlines only a few weeks ago and they are brilliant. you need to fly from London thought but they are great.

Went before with Turkish Airlines and changed planes in Istanbul.

They were the cheapest when we went a couple of years ago.

Also worth looking at Royal Jordanian Airways through london. But the airport is very quiet / odd. You can get free internet at the starbucks.

Use http://www.skyscanner.ie/ to check flights, probably the best search engine out there.

No direct Bangkok flights from Dublin, generally the Middle Eastern and South East Asian airlines are better, as an indicator the 2012 World Airline award winners are here http://www.worldairlineawards.com/Awards_2012/Airline2012.htm

Turkish Airlines are decent but the first leg via Istanbul is 4.5 hours without in flight entertainment.

Flying direct from Heathrow in one 12 hour flight is the best but for me it would not be worth it for the extra €200 - €300 cost of a direct flight.

You won't get a direct flight from Dublin so you are going to have to change plane somewhere.

Heathrow, can take a while to get between terminals, you have to go through security screening again.

The other airports in the Emirates and Turkey are a bit further on in the journey and I know for Istanbul it is the one airport.

This gives you the opportunity to break the journey at a more natural half way point. However the planes from Ireland tend to be smaller and have less / no interactive screens.

You just go to the transfer section upstairs, and you are in the duty free and it is a case of just heading to the gate or if you have time having a coffee in one of the coffee shops.

The £Direct£ flights from London tend to be more expensive.

that's probably because it's high season. We flew in September/October which is closer to their rainy season.
Did you try KLM and Emirates as well? Skyscanner.ie is also useful for finding other companies.
