M50 Category

    complete novice here, but what exactly is the M50 category? is it male over 50?

    Yes, if you are over 50 on the day of the race.

    I'm not too sure what it means, but speaking to most of the runners in that category, they were running 200 mile weeks in their bare feet during the last running boom and would pull up if they were only on 2:25 pace for the marathon.

    Marathons were also 30 miles in 'their day'.

    Not always, some races will have 5 year categories and some ten year ones. They have ten year categories in this order for a lot of races round my part of the world at the moment: F35, M40, F45, M50...

    Really slow runners in the mornings and early evenings, but usually grand during the day and weekends. Will only run between Santry and Bray thou.

    While all the above is true, they do tend to post their race numbers when claiming internet PB's to be fair to em.
