Golf mk3 Oil Cooler

Hello guys, I have an oil leak on my golf mk3 1.9d after an oil change went badly wrong.:(The oil cooler on top of the oil filter mounting got a bit of a bruising and I may have moved it out of position slightly..
From reading online I see that there is a seal/gasket behind the cooler that is probably ****ed. The oil is coming from between where the oil cooler meets the engine block.

So what I'm wondering is do I need to buy a whole new oil cooler or just buy a new seal & get my mechanic to fit?

    Thanks people

Replace the seal between the bracket and the block. You may just have pinched the seal if you were hanging off the filter. There's a o'ring in there too between the cooler and the bracket if I'm thinking of the right setup. Change that too. It could be worn/pinched. Clean up all the mating surfaces OCD style.

I normally change the cheap first stuff and work my way from up the price list. If your not doing the work yourself and the bracket is obviously damaged it may be easier to just change the whole lot if you can source the bits for second hand cheap.
