Hey, i just have a question about moving to Canada. Me and my boyfriend are planning on moving to Canada towards the end of 2013. He is a carpenter and I will hopefully be a qualified accountant. We have 2 questions and would really appreciate your help!
    1. if offered a job can you go any time of the year without having to apply for a visa in the January window?
2.if we were granted a visa in january 2013, when would this be activated as we are not planning on leaving until the later part of 2013?

    Thanks for all your help

Hi DizeeLizzie, I got my letter of introduction in April 2012 and am heading to Canada on January 31st 2013. The letter says I have to be in the country by April 2013, so you have a year from date of issue. (This is the IEC route, I don't know about sponsered visa.)

I think if you get a job offer, your prospective employer needs to get a LMO...Labour Market Opinion..which can take between 10 days and 16 weeks. You can then take your letter of employment and LMO and sort the visa at the border to Canada.
