I had a tooth pulled today, upper molar. It went well, I have a serious phobia of the dentist after a bad experience 2 years ago but had to get this sorted. I had it out about 4 hrs ago, she was really lovely and told me all I need to know and sent me home with info on what to do but I'm just a bit worried. I'm in pain despite taking solpadeine, is this normal?
I've been applying clean gauze every 1/2 hour or so since I got home but the last one had very little blood, is it ok to stop now? I can't remember what exactly the dentist said about this.
Can I eat now? I'm afraid to eat (even though I know to eat on the other side) incase it interferes with the blood clotting.
Its just the pain thats really bothering me, I can't relax myself its not extreme but just worried its not normal.

I don't understand, the dental surgery would surely have been open until 5, 5:30pm, for you to phone to ask? It really is better than getting advice from randomers on an internet site...
However, you should eat something to keep your energy up (pasta, a banana, porridge, something along those lines).
    Don't smoke.
Take over-the-counter painkillers only as prescribed, & as is suited to your medical history.
Ring your dentist in the morning if you're still worried, it's all part of the service.

I can see your confusion, didn't mention the surgery closed at 4.15... right about the time the panic set in. Its always the way! I just assumed this would be as good a place to suss it out as any as well as hear anyone else's experiences. Didn't do any harm! Thanks for your help:o

Ah, as with most things in life, timing is everything!;)
It's great you've found a dentist you're comfortable with, definitely try to return for a full checkup to get things back on track again- you do not want to become an expert patient on extractions, hopefully this is the first and last one.
    Good luck OP.
