Finding co axial in attic

There is a co axial running inside my living room wall and above it in the bedroom and up to attic. Can anyone tell me is it usual/normal exit in the attic directly above the sockets. Or is there any special place for cables to exit or rules around this?

My attic slopes down very much at that wall and before I move a lot of insulation back and crawl in it would help if I knew where to look

Yes, this is quite typical. In many homes the box where your cable TV feed comes in is located along the eave of the roof at the outside and so the coax cable comes in through the attic. Older houses which were retrofitted for cable TV usually have this setup, the cable feed is daisy-chained from house to house on a street.

Even where the supplier box is outside downstairs (on newer homes), it's typical to route coax through the attic where you have a second cable feed e.g. for an upstairs bedroom.

Yeah, pretty much. Find out where the cable enters the attic from the bedroom and trace it from there.

On a newer home, it might not go up to the attic at all.
