Laptop and Server query

Hi I'm considering buying a Sony VAIO. My budget is around EUR600.

I will need the laptop for watching online lectures, general email and surfing.

I have a current internet connection with UPC.

I need the availability of having internet access on the go, so I was considering dropping UPC and getting interactive 3G (so I can use on the move).

    Can anybody please advise? Thanks

Hi folks - sorry for bumping this up, but are the any opinions on the Sony VAIO?

I'm a novice re internet connectivity - as mentioned, we currently have our broadband with UPC but i'm looking for some internet access for on the move - I appreciate there is WiFi in certain spots, but has anybody any opinion on other options? Thanks

Comparing a UPC connection with a 3G connection is like comparing a Ferrari to an old banger.

As for the laptop personally I prefer ASUS and I certainly wouldn't reccomend HP

Vaio should be fine but forget about the on the move business, those 3G connections are as slow if not slower than dial up. Get to know where the wifi spots are.
