    2.20 Plumpton

    Camden 9/2

Already a fair bit of money around for Oliver Sherwood's 6 year old as he opened 8/1 but I think he is still decent value at 9/2 and I think he has the potential to make a mockery off his mark of 115 on what is his handicap debut over fences. A winner of a bumper on his debut under rules from the talented Water Garden, (now 133 rated over hurdles) Camden was also twice a very impressive winner over hurdles in his novice year scoring in both Maiden and Novice events by double figures. The Novice hurdle in which he scored by 12L has worked out to be very decent form as he conceded 6lb to the well beaten 2nd Rossmore Lad who went on to score in a handicap hurdle impressively off a mark of 117 (albeit it 11 months later). After this impressive success, Camden was assigned a mark of 130 and although well beaten in his 4 handicap hurdles after that (marks ranging from 130-125) its clear that he is quite a talented performer. Camden made his chasing debut at the beginning of the month on the back of 7 month absence in what I think will turn out to be a pretty decent Beginners Chase at Stratford over 2m7f in the mud where he ran what I thought was a very promising debut over the larger obstacles. Helping to set the pace throughout, Camden's jumping impressed me greatly and he traveled pretty well and was part of a group of 5 that forged clear of the rest of the field. I think the combination of the testing conditions and it being his first run under rules for 200 days saw him get quite tired late on and he certainly wasn't unduly overexerted when his chance of winning was beaten.

Although he won on his rules debut, (on the back of an 8th month absence) I think he is entitled to strip a lot fitter for that run and he should be spot on for this today. Today represents a much easier contest for this gelding and based on his hurdles form I think a mark of 115 looks potentially very lenient. In addition, I think he's probably going to prove better over fences (won a pretty decent Point to Point) after what was a more than satisfactory introduction over fences. He's dropped back to 2m4f today which I don't think should pose much of an issue and neither should the ground. Regular pilot Aidan Coleman takes over in the saddle again and this represents the in form trainer Oliver Sherwood's only runner of the day. He's got two more entries later in the week so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Camden was lined up to land a couple of quick runs over fences. If his reappearance run has put him spot on for this, I think he's got an excellent chance in this Class 4 handicap and although its not the sort of race to go crazy on it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he demolished this field and I think 9/2 represents more than a fair price.

Camden is a horse I've always liked-backed him the day he won his maiden hurdle but the price now is putting me off but the best of luck.

I haven't really fancied much strongly in the last week or so, finding the racing quite tough to pick a standout. I'll have a small bet on a horse I've been keeping an eye on in Kakatosi 4.30 Wolverhampton 14/1.

He's a horse who has gone off the boil big time of late, but at the start of his career he looked like he could be a very smart horse, winning his maiden at Lingfield over 7 furlongs at the third time of asking, before going on to win a hat trick of handicap races subsequently, with the last of those wins coming off a mark of 94.before being rated as high as 103. Shows how good he once was given that he finished a length and a quarter behind Chachamaidee over this trip in a conditions race at York back in May 2011, finishing ahead of Awzaan who won the Middle Park as a 2 year old. Nearly all of his runs since then have been disappointing however, hence the slump in his rating down to 82 today. However, he did put in a good perfromance the time before last at Brighton off a pound higher mark, beaten a shade over a length into third following a bad start. Typically for him he didn't build on that last time at Kempton (but didn't travel badly). Not one to place the utmost of faith in but he could be very well handicapped and may go in soon at a bit of a price

Lovely stuff Rossom. Not sure what would've happened had Qoubalai stood up. Stayed on well anyway

That is an almighty punt. 8/1 into 7/4. Balls of steel by Leighton Aspell as he knew they were slitting their throats in front of him but he got quite a way back!

    Cheers lads

My bad, you obviously are, I see that both posts were entered at pretty much exactly the same time on both forums. Keep up the good work.

Yeah thats me as well. Cheers for the heads up though STK. Found out the other day that someone was copying and pasting my write ups and posting them as their own work on Facebook earlier in the week.

I put up Illustrious Forest LTO who runs in the last at Wolverhampton and I was going to stick him up today. He's been well supported and although I think he has the potential to absolutely annihilate this field off his current mark and he drops back into a Class 5 I think he's going to be a non trier because the owners have always been on course backers and he I don' think it will be there money. However, if he drifts between now and race time and gets well backed on course lump on as I think he'll bolt in. No bet for now but keep an eye out on how the market goes.

Complete and utter non trier. They are lining that up for a massive punt.

As you said, there was a good chance today might not be the day, I just hope one of us spot it the next time at the big price, probably grade 3.

    Nice shout rossom.

Kakatosi ran ok, had every chance about a furlong out but faded. Could still win one in a lower grade off a mark of around 80 or lower preferably
