How can you be so sure? They have completed a deal with unions that will slash thousands of jobs and cut salaries and pensions. That's only good enough for now. They still have almost a full winter to get through, a lull for the airline industry. I would be very surprised to see them make it to the summer. But fair play if they do.

By the way from that article,
Fears of a possible bankruptcy were heightened on Sunday when SAS told crews to ensure airplanes were fully fuelled so as to be able to return home if needed. The airline also gave cash to flying staff to make sure they could get hotel rooms.
It sounds like some here are more optimistic about the airline than the airline was themselves.

Standard company brinkmanship in order to screw over people and save face for years of mismanagement. Those "high" salaries were fine over all of the years whilst it was making a profit. But someone took the eye off the ball and allowed their market share to be eroded by the locos.

Same happened at AL around the time of "Greenfield". From memory first they told us that there were 30, then around 50, then 70 and finally 120 pilot redundancies. Now out of 500 or so that is some percentage. So we played the game and took a pay cut and gave up various T&Cs and worked longer hours for less. The actual number turned out to be around 70 on a voluntary redundancy basis targeting the high earners.

Also at this time management decide that it isn't really sensible flying empty 330s double daily from various places when you could merge flights. Plus they defer 330 and 350 orders which would have swallowed up loads of cash.

Voila! Airline saved from the brink and operating profits restored quicker than a blink of an eye. Management are happy and bonuses all around.
