How much spray malt?

I've just got the Murtons Export Stout kit and 500g dark spraymalt. I've been reading a bit more and it seems that alot of the recommendations are for 1KG spraymalt. Is the extra 500g needed? Could I use sugar instead or would I be better off trying waiting to get more spraymalt?

Yes you could use sugar, but probably best waiting for more spraymalt. Spraymalt is more flavoursome and adds body to the brew.

For a stout i use 1.5kg medium gives anice body ,good mouthfeel
