PG treatment under the skin

    I gave a heifer prosolvin yesterday but didnt have instructions and gave it under the skin instead of into the muscle. anybody else do this and did it work out ok? I presume with a hormone treatment like that it shouldnt make a huge difference. Still annoyed with myself though:mad:

    I'd imagine under the skin will give a slower release into the system and maybe not enough whack to get the job done. could be lucky though.;)

    If you see her in heat, or with a discharge, in 2-3 days you'll know it worked.

    If she doesn't come in heat, certainly within 7 days, then either she was at a stage of the cycle where she was non-responsive to it (recent heat, too far gone in-calf) or it hasn't worked and you won't know for sure which.

    I'd be inclined to lean towards it should work but then there has to be a reason why it's meant to be given IM; although that reason could be that it's irritant.

    hormones need to be given by deep intra muscalar injection in the backside as close to womb as possible for best effect
