Car Battery Dead

    Hi all,

My 1.2L Volkswagen Polo's battery is dead and I can't get it started.

My brother already tried to jumpstart it but had no joy. Granted, it has been sitting there for a couple of months without being started so I only have myself to blame really.

I presume I'd have to either get someone out that has a charger or have it towed to get it charged. Would anyone know of any mechanic or someone with a charger who could do this for me on a Sunday or am I asking the impossible?

    Thanks in advance!

    DL

If it won't start with a jump, you may have other issues...

Would you consider purchasing a new battery?

Is the car turning over? If not it's not the battery, more than likely the starter motor. If it starts on a push then would look like the starter motor.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies, it looks like a new battery is the verdict. Thanks again,

maybe your brother didn't jump it properly, it should start on a jump, even if its a bad battery. If he did it correctly and it still doesn't start then i almost guarantee it being something other than the battery. ie. Start motor, fuel pump.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the battery is just to flat to resurrect from a jump start. It doesn't necessarily mean that there is a bigger issue at play here.
