I've tried looking up the info on the DART website but it confuses me D:

I live close to the Museum stop on the Red Line, take that to Connolly, and from Connolly I go to Blackrock. I have been getting daily returns for both the Luas and DART which costs me €3.10 and €3.90 respectively, so €7 each day! Can anyone tell me the cost for a weekly/monthly ticket for both? I'd rather get a weekly ticket, I think. I don;t know the difference between Short Hop and Inner... City... Hop or whatever it's called? And the Luas.. can I get a weekly return for just the Central 1 zone? I don't use the DART at all for any other travel, and rarely travel outside the Central 1 zone of the Luas.

I'm very confused, and the cost of travel is eating a lot into my wages, any help would be appreciated, thank you :)

probably cheaper by bus - you could use Travel90 cards.

In theory it should be possible to buy a rail ticket from Heuston to Blackrock, that includes the Luas transfer, but the Irishrail site refuses to list them.

Walk to Connolly, really it's not that far, and you'll nearly cut your costs in half.

bike full stop, 11km pretty much flat out the rock road or even coast road for a nicer view. 11km, less than 40 mins for anyone reasonably fit.

If you cycled there and back a couple of times of week it would save a bit. You might not have a bike though.

Dublin Bike to Connolly would help.

A 5 day Dublin Bus Rambler ticket costs €23 (soon to be €25). If you switch to bus you'll make a €10 saving instantly.

There is a bus every few minutes on the quays into the city centre, then from O'Connell Bridge just take the 4, 7 or 8 to Blackrock.

Bus does seem to make the most sense.

Irish Rail Adult 7 Day for Irish Rail is either €19.20 or €21.10.

    Why not a 30 day rambler? EUR 115 for 30 non-consecutive days?

Get a Leap card. It costs a fiver to start it off, and then all you have to do is keep it topped up. You can use it on the Luas, the Dart and Dublin bus. You tag on and tag off each time you use it. Fares can be up to 17%-18% cheaper if you use one.

    Go go to. https://www.leapcard.ie

Under the What is a Leap Card? tab, click on Leap Card Fares and it will give you a breakdown of what Dart and Luas fares will cost using a Leap Card.

Put 30 quid on it to start. Check your balance at the end of the week, and you'll be able to tell what your week of journeys cost you. Then you'll know the precise amount you will need to top up by each week. The different Luas fare zones are very clearly set out on the ticket machines and on posters at the Luas stops themselves. They are colour coded and are not difficult to figure out. The Irish Rail short hop fare zone includes all Dart stations from Malahide and Howth at the north end of the line, to Bray and Greystones at the southern end. So no matter where you are going on the Dart it will be in the short hop zone.

This would be a very expensive way of doing things! the leap card cant hold any rambler or weekly/monthly tickets so it would be cheaper to just use the bus and buy a 5 or 30 day rambler ticket
