Mexican Strats

I'm thinking of getting one for Christmas, does anyone have any experience with them?

I love drop tunings (C Standard is the lowest I'd be going), mainly playing hard rock, with some punk and grunge. I also love some clean guitar.

Do you think this would be a good guitar for me?

Hard to see you get heavey rock and grunge tones with a single coil guitar. If it had a humbucker in the bridge, it would be a decent buy. Nothing wrong with the Mex Strats i think. Could be some nice bargains on adverts.ie

Mexican Strats are a great solid guitar that is a perfect base for some modding.

HBs are a must for your style of nusic though..... can you get a HH Mex strat? if so, that's what you want!

I disagree. If you like single coils, get single coils. You can play any style of music you like with them.

Mexican Fenders have improved immensely in the last couple of years, making them a very attractive proposition.

I don't think you can go wrong.

I don't get the HBs are a must comments. Strats and single coils and a staple of hard rock, they also give you lots of clarity when playing as a low as C standard, especially so for cleans. That said I'd go Squier Classic Vibe over a Mexican.
