You can get the Planet X SL Pro Carbon with an Apex Groupset for €1150 from Planet X Ireland in Athlone as of Today.

I'd say that'd the best value you'll find anywhere to be honest.

How about a Giant Defy 1?

105 components, a bit below budget but you can get yourself a good pair of pedals and shoes to go with it :)

(I also went for the Shimano 105 pedals)

Have the bike about 2 months and am still well pleased with it.

I'd take the SL Pro over it every day of the week.

Carbon vs Alu, Apex vs 105, lighter vs heavier, the SL Pro is about €100 cheaper...

Just looked on the website now and I can't see that deal. Was it instore or on web?

Instore, like I said, that offer is available as of today, I spoke to Colm from the shop on the phone this aftrnoon and he gave me the price, they just got the groupsets in and will be building the bikes to order. Just give them a call on monday.

They can build a Kaffenback for about €1200ish if you' prefer steel ;)

Hi BaiMeOut - am I correct that you got yours from Westbrook (on the link in the previous thread)? I'm same height/weight as you - how happy are you with the bike? Was it through the CTW?

I am very happy with the bike although I really have nothing to compare it too. The size is good although I am planning on taking it for a proper professional fitting in the new year. I ordered it from Westbrook on a Monday night and it arrived in the Thursday morning and shipping was free. I do not qualify for any bike to work scheme so it was just a straight purchase.

If you are thinking about the Planet X SL pro check first they can actually get you one. The folks in Athlone could not get me one for some reason so ended up going with the SuperSix instead.
