was following john pawls thread and got some very usefull tips

my tank is the same size three bay with 14 ft 6 slats ( one agitation point )

however i am not putting in cubicles so its just slats + a creep area of 15 ft behind

total size is around 48 x 30 ft

ive gotten a quote of 28 k + vat for everything

that includes digging out tank , gravel for base , shuttering , steel for tank , ready mix , slats , one agitation point

shed frame , sheeting , purlines , four dividing gates for slatted and creep area ( two in each ) , three creep gates , one calving gate , roof materials including timber purlines , gutters , drinkers , one 15 ft sliding door + one smaller 6 ft hinged door , electrical work , the whole shebang effectivley

was hoping that 25 k + vat would have covered it but ive only gotten one quote so far

    any ideas welcome

Very good article in this weeks journal about the costs of a basic 4 Bay slatted shed. Good info in it as the guy who owned it also builds them and gave a breakdown on costs. Good tips on keeping the design simple too.

priced this last year and got seriously good quotes (cant get them now). i bought the steel a while back for 2400 notes.
12'6" tractor slat, one agitation point all coming to 54' long
    digging out, stone and backfilling
12" walls and all the steel. not up to grant spec but close
18" toe room to front, 12' creep to back
wall to back and one end poured
concrete ran in around 3' to marry into existing slab
    coming to 15000 incl
    thats coming to 17400
I am hoping to get the sheeting for 16-1800
    purlins will come to 350
feed barriers and creep barriers i'll be making myself, steel for these will be around 600
    electrical and plumbing aprox 1000
    all comes to over 21k
Thats not including galvanising and all my own labour.
The finished shed will be 45' by 26' with an eight foot overhang

Just finished a shed 3 bays long with a 10ft creep area, 14,6 standard slat and 15ft feed passage. Got all the digging out, steel work, shuttering, concrete and back filling done by contractor did everything else our selfs. We had all the suitable pillars ourselfs from the boom and all the steel for barriers gates ect around aswell we had enough galavinize to do the side sheeting that my father took from a job several years ago that was going to be dumped!! Span new! Bought new stuff for the roof. With everything in it has cost us about €17000. another fella we know who did everything perfect and cost €36000 for similar shed, with 15 suckler cows we couldnt justify doing that sort of thing.
