    Take a pict.

Is it the boiler pressure your looking at?

Expansion vessels are to 0.8 to a bar depending on boiler.

It would have always equalised expansion pressure to system pressure.

If there is a gauge there, it is WATER pressure, and should be between 0.5-1.5 (when cold) bar depending on who may floors your home has (0.5 per floor) and shouldn't really pass 2.5 bar (when fully hot)

At 3bar the safety valve should lift to relieve water pressure, if your is constantly at this level you expansion vessel needs attention (or maybe your filling valve has been left open) you can only test the expansion vessel pressure when there is no water pressure pushing against it (if not your only measuring water pressure, not air pressure)
