Boiler Thermostat

I have a Grant Vortex Condensing boiler 90/120. The thermostat knob only turns about 1/4 of an inch maybe a little with that but not much. Is this the min (65deg) and max (75deg)?? i see there is a restriction bar on the knob and if i take this off it will move about 1inch form min to max. The reason i ask is i have a ferolli 300ltr cylinder and i have solar panels connected also...if i have 30deg of water in cylinder and i turn on my oil to heat hot water only it will take about 1.5hrs to get to 60deg, and that would only be from middle to top, the lower part of the cylinder would not move in tempeture. am i expecting to much??

reason the lower part wont move in temperature is the oil coil is in the middle. that way there is always cold water left for the solar.

which is why the bottom is staying at 30.

Temp range is 60-90 degrees, any alteration would certainly void any appliance and installation warranty (and possibly house insurance)

DGOBS, where did you get that information? I've got a Vortex 120/155 and the dial is blank, so I've no idea what the thermostat is set to. It's a nuisance.

    ***UPDATE***
I just mailed Grant about the stat on the 120/155 and they said the range on the stat was 55-70 degrees. They said their manuals are in the process of being updated to reflect this.

Sorry on a vortex is about 55-75 degs.
    Info is via Grant

    DGOBS,
Grant themselves just told me it was 55-70, so I'm confused! :-)
What's more annoying is that if left at the middle set point and assuming the 55-70 range, the DHW will never get above 62.5 degrees whereas my cylinder stat is set to 65! So the boiler will be working to no avail unless:
    1. I drop the cylinder stat to 60C
    2. I increase the boiler stat to 3/4 of the range or so.

What's more the manual for the grant suggest rads should be set at 70C flow, which implies turning the boiler stat up to the last. So bloody confusing. Why on earth couldn't they just label the boiler stat with the actual numbers.

Sorry the temp for the stats are +\-5 deg

The lower flow temperature means the boiler works harder at condensing

Sorry the temp for the stats are +\-5 deg as they are only phial type stats

The lower flow temperature means the boiler works harder at condensing
