I had this problem too. Restart the phone. Go to the app store. Throw the phone out the window.

Have not seen an ad since.

It has to be an upstairs window.

turning off your internet connection will do the trick.

You can set up adblocking if you root the phone and install an app. I'm not an expert on it, been looking to do this myself because I'm using an android tv box to watch foreign tv stations through the Filmon app which has become splattered with ads lately.

You can always install ad-blocking software on your phone. There are a few options for Android phones.

    http://android-adblock.com/
    http://adblockplus.org/en/android-about
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.adaway&hl=en

If you've got a PC somewhere - you can setup a web-proxy that filters out ads as well, but it'll be more work. Something like http://www.privoxy.org/ should do the trick.

The nice thing about the web-proxy is that you don't have to deal with making changes to your phone and it will work regardless of what OS your phone is running. PCs tend to be a lot easier to work with. The downside is keeping your PC on all the time and additional latency when you surf the web. That, and some websites are getting smart enough to detect popular ad-blocking software and are disabling functionality. Some sites may not work correctly.

Keep in mind, ads are often the only way people get compensated for their work. Even user-driven sites have costs associated with them, at the very least someone has to pay for the domain name and hosting. So, there is something to be said for viewing ads.

That wouldn't actually help block ads.

No, but at least you'd have an iPhone.

Are you making the claim that an iPhone, out of the box, actually blocks or prevents ads from appearing while surfing the web....

Or are you saying that you personally don't get ads on you iPhone?

Are there no special settings for your browser or for your boards account to disable it like you would on a laptop/pc?
