Hi all. I'm replacing the brake cables and shifter cables along with the housings on my summer bike, and have a problem. No prob removing the brake cables, as you just push from one end and out it pops from the front of the shifter. However I cant seem to do the same with the shifter cables. I've removed most of the outer housing so only about 6 inches of it remains in place. When I try to push the cable through the housing and out of the shifter, nothing happens. I'm obvoiusly missing something. Any advice would be great.

Make sure you've adjusted the levers back to their starting position, i.e. as if you were in the smallest sprocket at the back, or in the small ring in the front. The cable end should then be visible at the side of the lever body. You should then be able to push it through.

All as above mentioned by tax...esp having levers changed to default/start position but also ensure you have the rubber lever covers pulled/folded up to expose the naked lever body. Observe a elipitical hole on the inner aspect of both levers. Head of cable should be visible internally. Should push through now.
When reinserting ensure you`ve a nice clean cut to cable ends.
