Rather than concentrate on particular cars what do you need? How many miles a year? How much space is required?

I need a car with space as have a baby and planning to have another one in a year ir two. I drive about 70km a day to work. The 308 is within my budget, however i would stretch for a qashqai...

What's your budget? I take it the 70km involves motorway?

We have a Qashqui and for space and actually putting the child into the car, I would say 100% the Qashqui. The boot on the 308 won't be as big. 3 kids fit in, with 1 booster and 1 child seat.

You will get this for 11k tbh and bigger inside than a Qashqai and over 3 years warranty left on it.

If you need space for buggys a kia ceed sw or i30 estate are worth considering. The 1.6 diesel is economical, peppy and very reliable. Plus many still have warranty left.

If you don't mind the size you would get a 2008 on Mondeo. A 2 litre diesel hatch has a lot of space, is reliable, comfortable and plenty of room for baby seats in the back.

Have driven the Kia and the Hyundai and while they offer outstanding value and an excellent warranty , they would not really compare to a quashqai. Much more solid feel to the car , better quality interior and not as light and plasticy as the Koreans stuff.. quashqai are very popular and having driven one I can see why. They are however expensive secondhand ;)

OP have you considered the Peugeot 3008 which would be directly comparable to the Nissan and IMHO nicer also. Should be cheaper second hand also.

The qashqai will hold its value far better than anything else in this thread, for that reason alone it's a front runner.

Anything but a 308 for me.
