Souhans for remap?

    Hey lads,

going to Souhans tomorrow for a new exhaust and was thinking of getting a remap done.
I called chippedire but they don't open on Saturdays which makes it difficult for me to get to them.

Souhans are quoting €100 cheaper than chippedire to get the remap done but they don't have a dyno. They send the file to a company in Italy and then its sent back and loaded onto the car, power gains etc listed on their site seem the same as those on other sites I've looked at.

I've heard great things about them for exhausts but has anyone ever had a remap done there?

    Cheers

Have seen their exhaust work up close and it's very good, have never heard any feedback on their mapping but to be honest Joe at chipped ire is the only guy i'd let map a car in this country.

They can be very cautious if you've a serious exhaust/engine problem I'd a failing tb on mine when they fixed an obvious fault on the exhaust and they warned in advance about it, I knew about the fault and was happy for them to go ahead.

They didn't strike me as engine specialists tbh.

However and a bit OT if you head into the village itself, there is a mega greasy spoon there to have a feed while you are waiting, the breakfast is only massive!

Now that's the kind of local knowledge I expect from boards :D That advice will be very much appreciated early tomorrow morning!

Did you actually go ahead with the remap then? How does the car feel after getting it done?

Nah I was there to fix a giant hole in the midsection of my exhaust, going to go back eventually to get them to replace the rear end of it, as it looks ****e with the shiny new bit and the dinged end :)

As for local knowledge, when you hit main St, there are a couple of cafes on the left the greasy spoon is the least fancy looking one. Looks like nothing, giant menu, great service and a deadly breakfast, nice big mugs too, none of your fancy teacups and saucers :D

OH still talks about that breakfast, would feed an elephant!

    Good man cheers for that!

They seem like genuinely decent lads so I'll see how it goes tomorrow, if I don't like what they're doing with the remap I'll cancel it but for exhausts they seem to be the best around.

Here's hoping they don't make my car sound like a clapped out Civic :D

    FYP :)

Ah they are deadly to deal with, couldn't have been nicer.

Cafe I'm thinking of is a couple of doors down from the fruit and veg shop.

They did a fine job on my exhaust :)

Souhans are great for exhausts. I'm a bit predjudiced against re-maps as often the vehicle will start throwing stupid annoying ecu faults after it is done. I've heard too many mechanics tell customers "you shouldn't have re-mapped it mate" to be very comfy getting it done..

That would put me right off. Sounds not far off getting it chipped. Definitely wouldn't be swayed by the fact they're handy with exhausts or the tasty breakfasts nearby, even if they are hard got nowadays. I want a proper recommendation TBH.

The max power outputs on the internet don't mean FA either. Could be smoke everywhere at that figure. A proper remap will give you better power across different rev bands without smoke. For the sake of 100 quid.

WHat made me say they weren't engine specialists or didn't strike me as such was that they freaked out at the engine noise from my car before they fixed my exhaust which was easily identifiable.

I think they thought I thought it would suit up, I knew full well I'd timing belt/variator issues (alfa) but they couldn't differentiate between engine and exhaust noise, or thought I couldn't

They fit a custom quad exhaust to my fto a few months ago. Cost me €290 for the cat back. Overall, really pleased with the note and the look. Since installation, the support arm has snapped its weld and i've had to get it rewelded twice, because it was on the thin lip of the backbox. I only had it fixed again yesterday at Atlas, so I expect to have no more problems.

I haven't been able to bring it back to Souhans, because they're a bit far out for a simple repair, but it's cost me an extra €50 for work that should not have needing to be fixed, at least not within a few months.

Right so got the exhaust done and decided not to get the remap, think as everyone said, better to get it done right.

Pretty happy with the exhaust, went for a cat back magnaflow. Sound is exactly as I wanted, very quiet while just cruising and gives a nice rasp when accelerating or blipping under gearchange.

I was going to keep the dual tips but I quite liked an oval single tip they had. It sticks out a little more from the bumper than I expected but I figure I'll get used to it.
Lads are great down there, really listened to the type of sound I wanted and tried to get it right for me.Some pics below.
