yes put the name in online, leave herdname out though, for example if your pedigree herd is called ranelagh and you want to name the calf sarah then just put sarah in online as opposed to ranelagh sarah, the info will be passed to breed society etc

Hmm how did I not cop that before ha, I register everything except the fr heifers online, my dad still sends off the form for the pedigree ones! Slight rant about the agfood website now, I just went to login and look at it now, and managed to lock myself out of it! The whole password system for it is a joke 2bh!

What's wrong with 'the whole password system'? You set the password when you registered - ok it had to have at least one number and a special character .. but that isn't unusual .. or is it?

Yes you can register the breed and it can be done for all breeds.

The Department’s online calf registration facility (www.agfood.ie) allows the pedigree name of an animal to be recorded during the registration process.

However, you can only enter a pedigree name for the animal when you provide the sire tag number or the AI Code when you are completing the registration details.

i might be wrong but when i last asked the aberdeen angus ass, there was no agreement between them and icbf for the registration of pedigree angus calves, thus me having to fill in silly repetitive forms,

The basic password is grand, the PAC thingy, for which you need to enter 3 digits is a total pain, and I can't change the password for it, so its another password I've to try remember, which I never do, and end up having it saved in my emails, which sort of defeats the purpose of passwords in the 1st place.

If you've forgotten your PAC thingy :), you just contact the Dept.
    agfood@agriculture.gov.ie or Lo-call 1890 252 118

The PAC might be a pain in the ass but banks use it too.. I use a 6 digit number that I'll never forget.

I locked myself out on Tues password meltdown as well, rang "de number" got through on the second try after a couple of mins. They asked for my PPS number cue 5 mins rooting through SFP forms to get it, rang them back, was going again 5 mins later. If we were using it often enough the password would stick.
