renting a room?

    question, would renting a room in my house to help with my morgage affect my jobseekers allowance payment, i mean would my weekly payment be reduced because of the rental income?

    The house in which you live is not included in the assessment of your means unless you are getting an income from it. If you have rented a room in the house, that income is assessed but the capital value of your home is not.

    Jobseekers allowance is means tested therefore if you have income of any sort (rental income included) this is classed as means and would be tested and depending on how much rental income you receive your JSA would be adjusted accordingly.
