Irish drivers not so bad after all German Driver with a full mobile office in his car

German police pulled over a Ford station wagon for speeding and found the passenger seat area equipped with an entire mobile office.

mobile-office.jpgThe interior of the car revealed a wooden frame built on the passenger seat.

Atop that sat a laptop on a docking station, tilted for more easy access, a printer, a router, a wireless internet dongle, WLAN antenna, and an inverter to power all the gear.

A mobile phone and navigation system had been mounted on the windscreen, as well.

Since the police didn’t have any evidence the driver used the ‘office’ while driving, they couldn’t penalise him with more than the speeding ticket and fine for unsecured items.

How is he running that through the cigarette lighter, would the battery not be sucked dry? I can't imagine those conditions being too good for either the upholstery or the equipment itself in those cramped conditions - lots of heat and no air flow between that gear.

It looks like it's being run off an invertor. There's a European mains plug in the photo.

Craziness. The ridiculous thing is though is that he is probably safer driving this way on a German Autobahn doing his work, than a person on their mobile in Ireland approaching a roundabout.

I knew he was using an inverter, but they normally only pump out 150-300W, all that kit would surely use more than that, I'd have thought.

Depends on size, he could also use more inverters simultaneously. :P

Apart from that, all the inverters MUST have power source, and the only available appears to be that car's alternator.

So probably that German handy Andy has stronger (more powerful) alternator fitted. :)

    Edit: strong enough inverter:

    It's just a matter of price. ;)
