    Hi there,
Just wondering if people could confirm to me whether these places are free parking.Im not sure of the correct names for the locations but ill do my best.
1.Leinster Rugby area which is very close to the sports centre. As in,u have to go through that area to get to the sports area parking if u are arriving in ucd
2.Sports area.I believe that there is a certain are here which is paid parking and another area of it which is free.
3.When u are driving from say the gym towards the school of law which they are constructing, there is a little hill there on the left as u are driving in this direction.Iv always been reluctant to go up there as it appears like a clamper happy area.
    Thanks

    1: Dunno
2: 3 quarters of this area are free parking, the quarter nearest the hockey stadium is pay and display.
3: Completely free, but only park on gravel (not on tarmac) and don't box anyone in.

I assume the first one you are talking about is Newstead (civil engineering and landscape building). If so all the parking around there is free, except for like 6 spaces near the pitches (there's signs telling you which ones), there's also another gravel car park there behind the sheds for the various societies.

The sports area I assume you mean the one beside the five aside pitches. Yep that's free except a certain designated part.

The best trick I can give you if you want to park towards that side of campus is to park in Richview, to get in there just continue past the clonskeagh entrance (coming from the mosque direction) and take the first right after the car dealership. There's nearly always parking in there, even at the worst times like 11am. Once again there are a couple of paid spots but they have yellow lines either side and signs above.

Still baffled as to why they made those three spaces pay and display, I'm no longer in UCD :( but I spend most of last year over there and due to the fact that 95% of the time there were free spaces there I never saw those paid spaces ever occupied in 8 months. Really weird decision.

I believe there is a legal limit on free parking per building in public campuses. The paid parking isn't to make money, they just have to have it, its paid or nothing.

Also I think it's for if there's any visiting professors/ lecturers to ensure they have a place to park.

That map is a little out of date around the old bus stop's near eng and the new car park near roebuck. Wouldn't take it as gospel.

I always think its mental when you see people arriving and paying for parking in the gravel area opposite Centra / New law building at like 8.30 in the morning, when the rest of the free car park is empty. They should really sign post car parks a lot better.
