Arts millennium building leaking!

Has anyone heard anything about this? I was in the upstairs computer suite one day a few weeks ago, when this random guy walked in and spoke to the entire room, saying that there was water leaking through the ceiling. He said he had alerted the relevant authorities but had not been acknowledged, and if we valued our lives we should not be using the computers in the building because of the risk of electrocution.

And today, a friend of mine was doing French in the language labs in there, and said that she literally saw water flooding into the room! This was about 40 mins after a fire alarm had gone off in the building, I don't know if it's related.

So does anyone know what's going on? If there really is water entering the building, is there not a huge safety risk? Shouldn't the building be closed off?

That same maintainence fella approached me that day after he had cleared everyone out, he was telling me how he had alerted everyone from Buildings to Rhatigan's foreman and that no-one was taking responsibility for it. There was at least 10 buckets all over the floor/desks that were collecting drops and no joke water was actually pouring down over a live fusebox.

All the while still being open to the public.

So he wasn't just a paranoid conspiracy theorist then?! Cos that's what I thought everyone else in the room was thinking, I was one of the only people that left!

I've e-mailed the NUIG building's office, so at least there's another voice bringing up the issue. I don't have a clue how this hasn't become a big deal yet????

Call me gullible but I don't think water + electricity = bad is a conspiracy theory.

Well that was my point:) It's scary that the rooms haven't been closed. Do they think it's going to cause too much disruption and they'd rather plead ignorance until it's too late?

You've clearly never dealt with the buildings office yet, undoubtedly the most inept, inefficient management structure I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Nobody there is capable of making a decision on anything, they all just pass the buck.

    Sounds about right.

You can't even drop into them, they complain about people invading upon their offices. From what I can tell there have been issues with them for years.

They should nearly all be removed en masse and completely new personel put in..
