CIRCLIP ON THE END OF A CV JOINT

    Hi guys,

I was replacing a cv joint boot on a nissan almera there at the weekend. I noticed and have noticed a few times. These boot kits usually dont come with a new circlip.

My query is, what way are these spec'd? What sizes do they come in. And where do I get new ones?

Its inevitable that one will break sometime on me.

    Thanks folks!

What clip are you talking about? There usually is no circlip on cv joints, do you mean the wee C clip that sits in a groove a few inches in from the end of the shaft (should get those included in the kit) or the clips that hold on the actual cv boot rubber? (usually always included in the kit aswell).

Sorry, Yes I mean the C-clip. I didnt know the correct term for them.
I've bought a couple of cv boot kits for almeras, sunnys and maximas and none have ever contained a c-clip. Always the rubber, grease, and the bands to clamp the rubber to the cv joint.

Theres no real loading on that C clip. its purely a retainer.
I'd reuse the old one if you don't have a new one.
A Nissan dealer can get one if you relly need one but personally I wouldn't bother.

They are very brittle though and break easily.
    Thanks for the help.
