Ideas for RSA-type TV ads

    Here's a few:

With the resurgence of the use of zebra crossing in at least some towns around the country is it time for the RSA to do one of their TV ads on their use? Mainly to tell motorists and cyclists that they must yield to people crossing.

Maybe include how they also must yield to anydody already crossing at crossings without traffic lights?

A reminder to motorists and cyclists that footpaths are only for walking on, not for cycling or parking on.

An ad telling motorists about leaving room while passing cyclists and to understand that extra room is needed when it's windy.

Maybe a bit explaining how cyclists are not obligated to use cycle lanes, and explaining why cyclists do not always use then and can't always keep in cycle lanes.

Good idea, I'd also suggest campaigns that high-light
    • pedestrians always have right of way
    • two parallel lines across the roadway from kerb to kerb is a pedestrian crossing
    • parking on footpaths, grass-verges or with the arse of your car sticking out of your driveway obstructing the footpath, are all parking offences. If they force pedestrians into the roadway, the offence carries 5 penalty points
    • pedestrian lights go GREEN, AMBER, RED, FLASHING AMBER, GREEN. Every colour except GREEN is a stop light.
    • The zig-zag lines leading up to zebra crossing are not for parking on and mounting the kerb at them while waiting for Clarence and Clarissa outside the school may be three distinct offences
    • leaving your hazard lights flashing does not mean you are not parked
    • if the street lights are on, it's probably safe to take off your sun-glasses

Good idea, let's hope any new ad's they may make don't include mistakes like checking your tyres "thread" depth, as in their current radio ad.

It's good to hear that someone else noticed that, I thought I was imagining things. Over in the Motors forum I'm used to reading all about "tire threads", but I've never heard it actually spoken!

Will it matter? The lane discipline was on everywhere for weeks and it seems to have had absolutely zero effect... bloody middle lane drivers!

Yeah been using the M50 a lot recently and if I stay in the inside lane at exactly 100 kph I undertake dozens of cars, absolutely no need for it.

And why is it that cars joining the motorway from slip rds seem to think they have right of way, they don't build up speed but just pull out and force others to avoid them?
