Did a survey of Non Bio Washing powders in Dunnes and Superquinn.
Came across Persil Non-Bio 70 washes in Superquinn for 13.39, claims its half price, works out at 19 cent per wash. think offer was supposed to be finished but it worked. First baby so don't know anything about it, is it ok to use normal washing powder for new a born? Thanks:)

I'd say non-bio is recommended for baby clothes and bedding etc... not essential. You don't need to buy brand name non-bio, Aldi and Lidl both do non-bio detergents, they're always cheaper than branded: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/product_range_22549.htm

You could try posting in the Parenting, Newborns and Toddlers forum: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1339

My kids were allergic to persil non bio believe it or not.

I have used lidl detergent for years on all of them and its very very gentle. no issues at all and a helluva lot cheaper.

I have only ever used Fairy for the kids clothes due to reactions to a few other washing powders.

I see washing children in clothes detergent is quite popular after all :p

Probably after all that scaremongering about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. But I am very worried about them being put in the tumble dryer. Much safer and eco friendly to hang them out on the line, they cant get too much fresh air!!

You get a better frizzy hair from the tumble-dryer (don't try this at home etc.).

Seriously, for a new baby, do not buy washing powder in bulk until you are sure that they are not allergic to it. Babies can be allergic to certain washing powders (watch out for a skin rash) and no two allergies are the same.
