Started working late September/Early October. Is it normal that it was sent to me? I did give the employer my P45 from my last job

Nope, if you have a PPS number already, then just ignore it. It was probably just a form in your starter pack. P45 is the main form.

It came in the post separately though? I have paid taxes last year in my last job at Christmas. So I should just ignore this then?

The P45 you gave them - was it from 2012 or 2011?

Just want to be sure, was your last employer a british company paying you by HRMC or was it Revenue?
Was your P45 on yellow paper?

probably best to ask your payroll dept .... prob just a mix up

It does sound like a mix up. just ensure your employer's payroll department have your PPS number on file. You'll be taxed at 41% if they don't.
