Postgraduate Language Modules

    Just wondering if there are any optional language courses available in the college for postgrads, and if so, has anyone on boards have attended them? I'd be interested in taking on French or German. Any details would be appreciated.

    I don't know of any postgraduate specific ones but on the CLCS undergraduate website, http://www.tcd.ie/slscs/undergraduate/clcs-language-modules/, in FAQ it says if spaces are available they accommodate some postgraduates
    "These classes are primarily designed and run for undergraduate students. Where places remain in modules, we are happy to accommodate postgraduate students when possible. Whilst some courses are always filled to maximum capacity, we are usually able to offer a few places to postgraduates after the registration period has closed, in early October."

    I'm in one of the beginners classes this year and to be honest I wouldn't recommend it, they're not conversation or grammar classes; they're suppose to be about practical use of the language, which means lots of group projects and presentations.
    The classes societies run might be a better option. I started going to the Japanese soc classes thinking it would be good practice and I'm actually learning much more there. You should check out DU Modern Languages, they do charge but it's a lot cheaper than taking classes outside college.
