    A group of about 5/6 in Dun Laoghaire Harbour on Sunday.

    Its an adult winter Black Guillemot. Usually a few around the harbour.

    Is it common for the one's in Irish waters to go white like that in winter? See guillemots nearly every time I surf but never seen one that colour.

    I think you may be confusing Black Guillemot and Common Guillemot. Black Guille's are all black in summer with an obvious white patch on the wing (pic).

    Ah you're dead right. I think I do see the odd razorbill bobbing around too.
