Amp Head/Cab Question

    Howdy All,
Just looking for some advice from people with more info/experience.
I have been using Combo amps since I started playing guitar.
Over the coming days I will be getting my 1st Amp Head and Cabinet (buying them separately)
It would be great if someone could help me with the connections.
The Amp Head is a Line6 SpiderValve II HD100
The Cab is an Orange PPC212 (closed back)

The manual for the Head is here (for anyone interested)
    http://l6c.scdn.line6.net/data/6/0a0...ev%20A%20).pdf

    The Cab has: 2x 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, 16ohm (2 inputs)

Here's what Orange came back to me with regarding set up:
Hi Cormac, your Line 6 Head has (3) outputs as far as I can tell. One of those outputs is for a single 16 Ohm cab. The other two outputs are switchable between 4 and 8 Ohms. The PPC212 Closed Back cab is a 16 Ohm cab. That means your options for hooking up cabs to your head are as follows: A) Connect (1) PPC212 into the 16 Ohm output of your head, or B) Connect (2) PPC212 cabs into each of the 8 Ohm outputs on your head. With option B, the Ohms are cut in half when connecting (2) 16 Ohm cabs, which is why if you choose to run (2) cabs at the same time they must be 16 Ohm cabs and you must run them into the 8 Ohm outputs. If you need more info,

So my question is: if i use one connection (the 16 ohm) connection will stereo effects still work (delay panning between speakers) secondly can someone advise which, if either, of the above mentioned set up would sound most powerful with gain/drive.

Sorry for the info dump, hopefully someone can help me.

    Thanks
    Cormac

The stereo effects won't work with just one output and one input and on the cab. It also doesn't look like you can run that cab in stereo, the extra jack looks like a linked input for connecting another cab in series from what I can tell.

Does the amp actually have a stereo output in the first place? You'll probably have no need for stereo effects anyways but if you do need them then you'll want to separate cabs placed a decent distance apart from each other, that is of course if the head has a stereo output in the first place which I can't find any mention of here: http://line6.com/spidervalvemkii/specs.html

As for power and gain it won't make any difference which way you run it but seeing as you'll only have one cab and one head you must run the 16 Ohm out to the 16 Ohm cab.
