Have been eyeing up these for ages. Baby on the way. Doggie that needs to go in the boot.

Anyone got any strong opinions on these? Would prefer a 1.6 diesel but will do a 1.8l. I've seen the flexifuel model but don't understand the concept. Any one care to fill me in? Still run them on petrol as oppposed to E85?

Been looking at 2006 - 2008. really dont want to spend more than 9k cash. Have they seriously no isofix in them?

The flex fuel model basically means it will run on regular unleaded and/or ethanol. Unfortunately ethanol was only sold by Maxol but is no longer available in the Republic as the Goverment did away with the reduced VRT rate on these type of vehicles a few years back. They will of course run on regular unleaded but are quite thirsty over the regular petrol model. You would want to be buying the FF version very cheap to offset the higher fuel consumption. Afaik unleaded sold here these days contains 5% ethanol.

Regarding the V50 itself, do a search as there were a few similar threads on them here recently.

Replaced my 05 earlier in the year for a new Passat.

Loved it thought. Extremely comfortable, a nice ride and broadly reliable. with that said, main dealer servicing and maintenance was eye wateringly expensive.

Mine was a 2.0d SE lux - it had a massive spec. But yeah, isofix was always an optional extra.

Personally, I'd go for the 1.6d over the 1.8f but then I do high milage.

    The 1.8F has a 10,000km service interval.

I have an 07 s40 with the regular 1.8, which has a 20,000km service interval.

This was a deciding factor for me in not stumping up the extra for a 2008 facelifted 1.8F - I do close to 30,000km per year.

Subaru Forrestor a better route to go or would the 2 litre petrol engine be ridiculous?
