2001 Audi A3 1.6L drivers door doesn't open

    Hi

My 2001 Audi A3 1.6L drivers door doesn't open using the remote key fob. All other doors open and close via remote key fob. I can open the drivers door using the key.

I have disconnected the battery, but issue is still there. I don't feel the keys need reprogramming as they are working on all other doors. There is a noise coming from the rear like a motor running for 30 seconds approx when I use either the key or the unlock button on the fob.

Advise needed for solutions, would it be a leak in the central locking pump??

had same problem on a4 ,it was faulty door locking mechanism, the locks are electric so no pump, I got one at breakers for €50 takes about an hour or so to do.

As above more that likely a faulty lock module.

I've the exact same problem on my allroad. It just started about 2 weeks ago. 9 times out of 10, the driver's door won't lock/open.

It's also been suggested to check the wiring in the rubber cover the connects the door to the car frame. It's possible that a wire has become damaged overtime and is causing a bad connection to the locking mechanism. Makes sense as the driver's door would be opened and closed more than the others so likely to happen there first.

I'll check the wiring and the door locking mechanism. Should be the same on the standard C5 A6 if I need to pick one up second-hand.

Would ye not be better off buying a new one?? You could have the same problem with the second hand one in a few weeks time. I think a new one is about 120
