    Hi there,

    Looking for any info please!

I'm a business teacher, commerce degree and h dip.

If I want to teach PE, is there any course I can do or way to become qualified for post-primary teaching without another degree?

    Thanks

Nope. Its a whole new degree. To do the postgrad in PE in UL you'd need a related undergrad like Health & Leisure in Tralee IT.

Whole new course - one of my friends in college was the exact same situation, did a business degree, decided she wanted to become a PE teacher and then had to do a PE degree from the start

pretty sure UL had/still have a course where you go back after your degree and do a year or two and become PE.

Im a pe teacher myself and when this course started up we werent happy.

No idea if its still on, but was definitely on offer in UL within the last 4-5 years

I'd nearly be sure that its still there, but you had to have some related degree to be able to do it, such as Rec and Leisure

edit - yeah, just looked at it, entry requirements are "Relevant Primary Degree at 2.2 Honours Level or higher, recognised by the Teaching Council for the purposes of teaching P.E. (Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland)Candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio of evidence of movement achievement."
