Sorry, maybe I'm missing something, but how can an 80bhp 1.4 golf be called a GT Sport:confused:

Just as a yardstick, non main dealer 08 gt sport with more miles for €9750

09 mk6 golf trend line with alloys €8500
Search terms might have me worried

09 gt with the TSI engine for €11950

Point being, as golfs go, a 1.4 80hp is undesirable, if its 08 then tax is no excuse, it seems pricey to me. There are so many better cars you can get for what you're spending. That's a fashionable colour now, but really its a non metallic 3 door golf with a few extras and is mental money for what it is.

Asking €13k for a nearly 5 year old 1.4 80bhp Golf. Should be in the dreamer of the year thread. Just for comparison you could buy the real thing for similar money:

In fact I would not even make an offer on that car as at the very best they would probably drop it to is what similar cars are going for. No bargin in that car.

That one is a high miler though relative to the others 24k, still seems like a nice car , I wouldnt offer more than 10 for it, its bound to be worth 6 in 2 years.

My point is though that you can buy a similar year higher spec superior GTi in the same price range as a bog standard 1.4 litre run of the mill Golf with replica GTi wheels irrespective of mileage.

The mrs has a 08 GT Sport with similar mileage but with the much nicer 122bhp tsi engine. I don't think we would get close to €12k for it.

The car posted in the OP is spectacularly overpriced and is trying to look like something it's not which is a bit sad. I'm a Golf fan but not with the 80bhp engine which is awful.

I tend to agree OP. Hold Fire, wait till the new year and get the real thing

I only used the GTi as an example of how overpriced that 1.4 Golf really is. I get the impression though that if the OP is looking at a 1.4 litre Golf he/she is probably not in the market for a GTi.

"Barely driven, 24,000 miles", who comes up with this nonsense?

Someone replaced the original gt sport alloys with gti lookalike alloys, probably still overpriced though, one of the lads at work paid 26k in 08 for a new one!

Nice, big, heavy replica wheels. That will help the chocolate gearbox in that car alright!
