weanlings on stubble ??

    how well would a few weanlings do on abit of stubble id been giving them abit of meal aswell but wat would the pros and cons be
    any advise or comments be much apprciated and really needed :D

    They would do damn all imo. it would take a fair bit of meal on it to through any weight on them.

    there is a abit of grass :) not the best i wouldnt say its been grazzed down really low by horses which my father had been renting out would they get anything from this and would there be any health risks since the horses have been grazing it?

    As said silage and small bit of meal, just keep them ticking over putting on .6-.7 kgs a day and wait till good grass next spring they will be ahead of the cattle that were in the shed and make up with compensatory growth.

    Cheap way to overwinter plus you can move the feeder out of the muck when you want to. Just make sure the field is kinda shleltered

    yeah agree there. If they have been out all year then they will be ok. Ar ing feeder mighnt be great as they wont be able to get to the silage in teh middle. You might need to get in a pike it every now and again. I know a fella that unrolls the silage along the stubble for weanlings, not as much soiling as you would think. as the lads about said make sure there are good sheltered ditchs. Cattle were outside for 1000's of years so they'll adapt easy enough as long as they as fed watered and can shelter from the worst of the weather.
