The choices are endless. if you like a newer and more efficient back boiler have a look at this,

After that would you like , oil , gas , wood pellet ?

You would have to remove your fire place. Some kangoo work to remove your existing back boiler.

Depends then on how old your pipework is and how good it is. You really need to get an assessment from a local plumber.
If it is a real old system you could be looking at replacing a lot of pipework. No point in putting a new boiler if your radiators are old as well.

Is there anything similar on a site that has prices? I'm looking for a way to burn wood in the winter that would be suitable for having kids in the house.
Basically a closed fire as cheap as possible that can heat radiators and possibly water.

The fire bird Troy is about 950-1150 pending on model. Your local hardware or plumbing suppliers can priced it.

Another model to look at is a Boru Inset Stove

The Fire bird would be slightly more efficient on paper 81% v 75%

    Both good names and stoves.

You could put in a inset back boiler stove.

    Bit of work though
