So I read online today about a man who was caught with 44 cannabis plants http://www.herald.ie/news/cannabis-plant-dealer-jailed-3292100.html and by my calculations around two and a half kilos of cannabis and he was sentenced to six years. I also came across a article from July about a man who got 6 and a half years for rape. http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0719/man-sentenced-over-sexual-assault-of-teenage-girl.html This **** makes me so effing mad. You can take a life or rape a kid/adult and receive the same or sometimes even less severe punishment than someone who was growing a plant. Its not like this man was a gangster. If anything this man by growing and selling cannabis was stopping money going to criminal gangs. (This isnt the reason he was growing it of course) Rant over.

    It is indeed sickening.

44 Plants may sound like a lot, and it is more than needed for personal use, recreational smoking.

This man stated to the judge that he was growing cannabis to make medicinal oil for cancer patients. This oil is also known as 'Rick Simpson Oil' and has been used all around the world with spectacular results for some.

Here is a man so caring for others, he is willing to risk his freedom for cannabis using patients and we have locked him up as a danger while the judge has displayed his ignorance. If he is going to imprison people over a subject he should be constantly updating his knowledge of the subject.

    What a joke.

Did you bother reading the article at all?
After initially giving "half- baked excuses", he admitted to gardai that he was growing it and selling it to pay for drugs he had received on credit.

Prosecutions for cannabis plant cultivation are a waste of Garda and court time and resources. If the policing resources deployed in combating cannabis cultivation were deployed fighting political corruption and corporate fraud we would have a better society.

Yea of course, he was growing it for personal medicinal use, he should have 10 years which is supposed to be the mandatory term for possesion of large amounts of illegal drugs.
