    Hi Guys

has anyone got any info on the cap badge the black and tans wore, or indeed the auxiliaries?

    also,

what would be the main features or traits used to distinguish between the auxiliaries and the tans

    all info welcome!

    thank you in advance

These may be good sites to start with.

I *think* the badges may have been a variation of the normal RIC harp fixed to a cloth bearing a unit or company symbol, though from looking at pics they only seem to bother putting them on their bonnets when being reviewed by a senior officer. Some guys seem to wear a mish-mash of cap badge designs on peaked (khaki?) caps, probably from their old regiments they fought with in WW1. As can be seen in the description on the 2nd website given the uniform situ was pretty chaotic.
